Veneto in Cucina
Behind the Scenes
This book was born from the unique creative energy shared between Luciana Sampogna and Franco Cogoli.
Luciana, a chef born into a Veneto family deeply devoted to preserving their culinary heritage, spent many years in Australia where she led celebrated cooking classes and published widely on Italian cuisine.
Returning to her roots in Veneto, she set out to rediscover and honour the authentic recipes of her childhood.
Franco, a native of Veneto and a photographer with an instinctive eye, brings a rare ability to capture the soul of a place. He knows exactly when the light is right, when the sun slips behind the hills, and when the landscape is ready to speak. For Franco, photographing Veneto isn’t just work — it’s a deeply personal tribute to the land he calls home.
Set in Luciana’s farmhouse kitchen in the heart of the Colline del Prosecco, this project came to life with remarkable clarity and purpose. Luciana and Franco brought together not only recipes, but living memories. They visited families across the region, gathered their stories, and ensured every dish remained true to its origins. Each recipe was tested with care, its flavor judged by one simple measure: could it take them back to childhood?
What began as a cookbook evolved into something far more meaningful — a celebration of culture, an act of preservation, and a heartfelt offering to those seeking the spirit of Italy in their own kitchens.
This is more than a collection of recipes. It is a love letter to Veneto — told through food, light, and memory.
